In celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month the Eastside Stuttering Support Group holds a special event during the May meeting. Past events have included:
A “Friends and Family Stuttering Support Group,” was held in 2009. The night was dedicated to education, support, knowledge and understanding. The special event included interactive discussions and a special presentation on new stuttering studies. The evening opened up honest conversations between those who stuttered and the ones they love, and offered a sense of understanding and acceptance to all those in attendance.
In 2008 the group hosted “A Night of Learning from Each Other,” for those who stutter, medical professionals, and students. The evening featured open dialogue, activities, and discussions regarding the effects of stuttering on those who live with it, and those whose profession assists stutterers.
