Bone Anchored Hearing Implants

Baha Bone Conduction Hearing Device
Bone Anchored Hearing Implants are devices used to treat certain forms of hearing loss. With these devices, sounds are converted into mechanical vibration that is transferred though the bone of the skull directly to the inner ear by way of a surgically placed implant. Bone Anchored Implants are appropriate for patients with conductive and mixed hearing loss, hearing loss with chronic infections of the ear canal or the middle ear, patients with a very narrow ear canal or an absent ear canal due to a congenital ear malformation, and individuals who are deaf in one ear. As with any hearing device, outcomes will vary by patient, and it is important to understand the benefits and limitations prior to initiating rehabilitation.
