Audiologist giving a patient a hearing test at Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic

Hearing Tests

Individuals of all ages can benefit from a hearing test, even those who do not exhibit signs of hearing loss. At Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic, we offer hearing tests in Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond, WA, for patients of all ages, including pediatrics.

During a comprehensive audiology evaluation, a series of individual diagnostic tests will be performed to assess your hearing ability. These include:

Hearing Aid Fittings

Finding a hearing aid is only the beginning of the process. Your audiologist at Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic will fit your hearing aids to your unique ear shape, ensuring they are comfortable. They will then be programmed based on your hearing loss (audiogram) and your lifestyle.

A follow-up appointment will be scheduled a few weeks after your initial fitting. The purpose of this visit is to fine-tune your hearing aids to your exact lifestyle needs and ensure they are at the correct level of amplification. It can take some time for new wearers to become used to their hearing aids, additional follow-up appointments can be made depending on your situation.

Hearing Aid Repairs

While regular maintenance and servicing of your hearing aids will keep them in good condition, sometimes they may need a repair. Our hearing specialists are experts in hearing technology and can fix most issues in the office, within the same day.

Many times, an issue with your hearing aids can be resolved with some quick troubleshooting.

  • Make sure the battery is inserted correctly
  • Replace the battery if it is dead or weak
  • Remove excess earwax from the earmold or replace the wax guard
  • Check the tubing for wax build-up or moisture
  • Make sure the hearing aid is not set to telecoil mode
  • Remove and reinsert your hearing aids
  • Turn down the volume
  • Make sure there is nothing blocking or covering the aids
  • Replace the battery
  • Open the battery compartment and clean with a dry cloth
  • Clean the earmold or tubing with wax removal tools

If these quick fixes do not resolve your hearing aid issues, please contact us for a service appointment.

Tinnitus Assessment

Tinnitus, also known as “ringing in the ears,” can be debilitating for those who hear the phantom sounds on a constant basis. To properly manage tinnitus, a full hearing exam and tinnitus test must be performed. Tinnitus itself is not a hearing disorder, but rather a symptom of another problem. To determine what caused your tinnitus, an assessment will need to be performed.

At Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic, we offer counseling for tinnitus and individualized management options to help you experience relief from ringing in the ears.

Patient at Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic learning about aural rehabilitation

Aural Rehabilitation

Aural rehabilitation is a branch of speech-language therapy that provides coaching for those with acquired hearing loss to improve their communication. When individuals experience hearing loss, they are often prescribed hearing aids to help them. While hearing aids do help the wearer hear better, they do not solve all communication challenges.
Aural rehabilitation may include counseling, auditory training (listening activities, simulating difficult listening environments, etc.), promoting self-advocacy through education, and training for use of other communication strategies.

At Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic, aural rehabilitation is included in our Connect™ program. We offer communication workshops and advanced courses in lip reading as well as computer-based auditory training programs that are available to practice at home.
