National Speech-Language-Hearing Month at Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic

Team celebrating National Speech-Language-Hearing Month at Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic

National Speech-Language-Hearing Month at Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic

May was a month full of learning, connection, celebration, and community at Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic as we recognized National Speech-Language-Hearing Month.

Throughout the month, our team came together to celebrate the importance of communication, hearing health, patient-centered care, and the relationships that make Evergreen so special.

From educational events and community outreach to team celebrations and honoring a beloved leader, this month reminded us why we do what we do every day.

Supporting Families Through the Nurtured Heart Approach

We began the month with our Nurtured Heart Approach 4-week parent coaching series, where families learned practical strategies to support connection, positive behavior, and emotional growth at home.

The Nurtured Heart Approach is a relationship-based approach that focuses on recognizing and energizing positive behaviors, building what the model calls “Inner Wealth,” and helping children use their intensity in positive ways. It emphasizes connection, clear boundaries, and celebrating moments when things are going right.

Evergreen at the Kirkland 5K

This year, Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic was proud to sponsor the Kirkland 5K. Our team hosted a booth and had such a wonderful time connecting with the community.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing familiar faces, including former patients, current patients, staff members, and community members who stopped by to say hello. Our team also participated in the walk/run, making it a fun and meaningful day of movement, connection, and community spirit.

Audiology Learning with Rachael Pennock, AuD, CCC-A

Our audiology team also had the opportunity to learn from Rachael Pennock, AuD, CCC-A, PhD candidate, who presented on clinical decision-making for communication needs assessments.

Her talk provided valuable insight into how audiologists can thoughtfully support patients’ communication needs through assessment, professional judgment, and individualized care planning.

Modern Aural Rehabilitation with Dr. Swanson

We were also proud to have our very own Dr. Swanson present on Modern Aural Rehabilitation: Bridging Assessment and Intervention.

Her presentation highlighted the importance of connecting what we learn through assessment with meaningful, functional intervention. It was a great opportunity for our team to reflect on how aural rehabilitation continues to evolve and how we can best support patients beyond the test results.

Celebrating Dr. Limb with Our Patients

A very special part of the month was hosting a patient retirement party for Dr. Limb at our Kirkland office. Current and longtime patients came by to wish Dr. Limb a happy retirement and celebrate the incredible impact he has made throughout his 40+ years with Evergreen.

It was a heartfelt reminder of the relationships Dr. Limb has built over the years and the many lives he has touched through his dedication to audiology and patient care.

Team Night at the Mariners Game

Our team also enjoyed a night out at the Seattle Mariners game. We had a full house with 25 team members and their families joining together for a fun evening outside of the clinic.

It was a wonderful way to connect as a team, celebrate the month, and spend time together with our families.

Evergreen on KOMO 4 News

Another exciting highlight from the month was seeing Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic featured on KOMO 4 News. We are grateful for the opportunity to share more about our work and the importance of communication and hearing health with the broader community.

Honoring Dr. Limb’s Retirement Breakfast

We closed out the month with a beautiful retirement breakfast for Dr. Limb at the Woodmark Hotel. Surrounded by old coworkers, his wife and children, and the ESHC team, we celebrated Dr. Limb’s remarkable 40+ years with Evergreen.

Dr. Limb began his journey at Evergreen as an intern audiologist with Dr. Norwood and went on to become an innovative leader who helped guide ESHC into the future. His commitment to growth, patient care, and staying current with the field of audiology has left a lasting legacy.

A Month to Remember

National Speech-Language-Hearing Month was a beautiful reflection of who we are at Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic: a team committed to education, innovation, patient care, and community.

We are so grateful to our patients, families, team members, presenters, and community partners who made this month so meaningful. From parent coaching and professional development to community events and retirement celebrations, May reminded us that communication connects us all.

We look forward to continuing this work every day and serving our community with care, compassion, and excellence.
