The program is based on the theory that children learn language in their day to day interactions with people in their environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ELIP program is offered two times per week for a six week period. There can be many reasons for a delay in speech and language, however, signs may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Delayed development of nonverbal communication \u2013 pointing and other gestures<\/li><li>Delayed use of words<\/li><li>Difficulty understanding what is said<\/li><li>Difficulty following directions<\/li><li>Immature\/inappropriate grammatical form<\/li><li>Difficulty expressing ideas<\/li><li>Limited vocabulary<\/li><li>Incorrect use of words<\/li><li>Inappropriate social interaction<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is the Program Designed For?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Program is designed for toddlers and preschoolers who have&nbsp;demonstrated a language delay and is also effective for parents who are looking for ways to interact with their child every day to help encourage&nbsp;their language development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Use ELIP?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Evergreen Speech &amp; Hearing Clinic recognizes the importance of parents and caregivers in their child\u2019s language development. Children who have delayed language development need to receive intervention as early as possible to prevent possible long-lasting negative consequences (social, emotional, and educational).
