{"id":1023,"date":"2010-06-23T10:46:22","date_gmt":"2010-06-23T18:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.everhear.com\/?p=1023"},"modified":"2019-09-18T10:32:24","modified_gmt":"2019-09-18T17:32:24","slug":"support-groups-increase-success-rate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everhear.com\/support-groups-increase-success-rate\/","title":{"rendered":"Support Groups Increase Success Rate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tA survey conducted last year by the National Stuttering Association (NSA) found that participation in support groups alleviates the life impact of stuttering and makes success in speech therapy more likely.<\/p>\n<p>The online survey was conducted in May 2009 to gather information about stuttering from the perspective of people who stutter. A total of 1,235 people responded to the survey, including 686 adults and 31 teens who stutter, 164 parents of children who stutter, and 354 speech-language pathologists.<\/p>\n<p>In our own observations at the clinic, we&#8217;ve found support groups to be an essential part of therapy for both those who stutter and their families.
