If you\u2019ve been concerned about paying for hearing aids, you can rest easy\u2014a new Washington state law will require insurance to provide up to $6,000 in coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rep. Tina Orwall, (D) Des Moines, who sponsored the bill, credits 8-year-old Hugo Esterhay\u2019s testimony to the House of Representatives with making the law a reality<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Under the law, non-grandfathered large group health plans issued or reissued in 2024 must provide coverage for hearing instruments, including bone-conduction hearing devices. The law does not include over-the-counter hearing aids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Coverage must include the hearing instrument, the initial assessment, fitting, adjustment, auditory training, and ear molds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
