\t\t\t\tSpeech Program Director Maryam Sadrzadeh recently attended a workshop for Compton PESL, a program for modifying or reducing foreign accents. The workshop was held in Philadelphia, and covered digital recordings, the screening process, transcription of American English Speech using IPA, interpretation of evaluation results, creating customized therapy plans, measuring results and much more.<\/p>\n

Strong accents can create communication problems that may have negative effects on job performance, educational advancement, and everyday life activities. It may also negatively affect your self-esteem if you are having trouble communicating because of an accent. For all of these reasons, some people want to modify or change their accent.
