Research from the <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.betterhearing.org\/t\/813622\/11051042\/1813\/0\/\">American Journal of Kidney Disease<\/a> shows that hearing loss is common in people with moderate CDK. In fact, older adults with moderate CKD have a higher prevalence of hearing loss than those of the same age without CKD.<\/p>\n<p>Hearing loss can have significant consequences on a person&#8217;s quality of life. It is important to encourage those with CKD to take part in hearing screenings as a part of their routine medical care. It will not only add to their\u00a0quality of life and lead to better management of underlying conditions which could, in turn, potentially preserve hearing function.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidney.org\/\">National Kidney Foundation<\/a>, 26 million American adults have CKD and millions of others are at increased risk.
