Now, you may have heard the term “evidence based” in medical advertisements, during your doctors visits, or even on popular doc-drama television shows, but do you really know what it means? Here are the steps that we strive to achieve with each decision made at ESHC<\/p>\n
Asking questions:<\/strong> one of the most important parts of Evidence Based Care is to identify weaknesses in products, treatments, health concerns or care; to find alternatives that could best meet the needs of the patients. By continuing to ask questions,\u00a0practitioners\u00a0open themselves up to finding new answers. At ESHC we conduct monthly audits on our quality assurance program where we ask, “is this the best way to be doing this?” It continues to keep the clinic cutting edge, and looking out for the best care for our patients.<\/p>\n Find, appraise and apply:<\/strong> for each new program, or product introduced to our clinic, our team of clinicians and doctors goes through a process of “find, appraise and apply.” This process includes current research paired with expert opinions, colleague feedback and patient values. At ESHC this is applied to our new programs and products along with those items identified as needing updates during our quality assurance meetings. This step allows us to process information and apply pertinent research into everyday practice.<\/p>\n Re-evaluate findings:<\/strong> a clinicians job is never done with Evidence Based Care. The whole goal of this format is to continue to search for the best fit for a situation or patient.
