Last month the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), launched a campaign called “Identify the Signs” to help increase awareness of the early stages of communication disorders. The overall goal of the campaign is to educate the public about the warming signs of communication disorders including speech, language and hearing. Early detection is a major contributor to speedier recoveries, shortened treatment periods and reduced costs for individuals and society alike. The campaign has gained attention in national media and is encouraging parents to become advocates for their children, asking questions of their physicians, and taking the necessary steps to get help if needed.

The campaign also features public service announcements that air on national and local television with a cute and clever video (see below), radio announcements along with a print campaign.
