{"id":7207,"date":"2009-03-30T08:05:40","date_gmt":"2009-03-30T08:05:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.everhear.com\/blog\/?p=278"},"modified":"2019-07-29T15:55:07","modified_gmt":"2019-07-29T15:55:07","slug":"national-doctors-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everhear.com\/national-doctors-day\/","title":{"rendered":"National Doctor&#8217;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #000000;\">I just found out about this great holiday a few months ago, however, National Doctor&#8217;s Day has been celebrated throughout the country since 1933. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The first Doctors\u2019 Day observance was held March 30, 1933, in Winder, Ga. The idea came from Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles Almond, who decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. The first observance in 1933 included mailing greeting cards to physicians, and placing red carnations on the graves of deceased doctors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This grassroots operation continued until the United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors\u2019 Day on March 30, 1958. In 1990, legislation was introduced into the House of Representatives and Senate to establish a National Doctors\u2019 Day. The day of recognition received near unanimous approval and former President George Bush signed a resolution designating March 30 as National Doctors\u2019 Day, with the first official celebration\u00a0occurring\u00a0in 1991.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Today patients and office staff celebrate National Doctor&#8217;s Day by sending cards to their doctors, and letting them know how much their hard work and dedication to patient care is appreciated.
