In a recent publication by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition researchers found something a little fishy in our hearing health. The study showed that if you eat two servings of fresh fish a week you lower the risk of experiencing hearing loss by 42% (if you are 50 years of older). It was found that omega-3 (even if taken in supplemental form) could make a big difference in your hearing health.
Other nutrients that have been studied as possible defenders against hearing loss include:
- Vitamin C found in citrus fruits
- Magnesium – a mineral found in many vegetables
- Vitamin E – again, found in fish including shellfish
