Speech-language pathologist Kate Pilant found an interesting story on an ‘outsiders’ perspective to Autism from NPR earlier this week. The segment shares the story of a 27-year-old woman, Lisa, who tells of her life and observations of neurotypicals (those without autism). The story combines current theories, research and Lisa’s ‘Alien View’ of Autism disorder.
Lisa recalls her daily life on a blog called “Reports from A Resident Alien,” bringing thought provoking perspectives to both typical and atypical socialization and interactions with others. During her time at college, she is helping with research on social interactions – making observations that only someone who doesn’t act “typically” could make.
We hope you enjoy this insiders perspective to Autism.
