Since 1979, Evergreen Speech and Hearing Clinic has joined audiologists and speech pathologists throughout the nation in the celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month each May. This month is dedicated to the recognition of the more than 42 million Americans of all ages who have communication disorders.
The City of Redmond has signed an official proclamation for the month of May as Better Hearing and Speech Month.
Each year we work with the community to celebrate, educate, and recognize the importance of hearing and speech issues. We have several exciting plans for the upcoming month. We hope to see you at one of our special community events like our Hearing Health Seminar on Thursday, May 10th from 6:30-8PM at our Redmond Clinic. This Advanced Communication Workshop will be led by students from the University of Washington Doctor of Audiology program. Topics will include:
- Understanding Your Audiogram
- Brain & Hearing
- Anatomy of the Ear
- Listening Effort
- Social Gatherings
- Health Effects of Hearing Loss
On Sunday, May 13th we will be at the Kirkland Mother’s Day Half Marathon & 5K. Stop by our sponsor booth to make a chEAR Poster for your runner!
The Hearing But Not Understanding Keynote by Dr. Jeanane Ferre Ph.D. will take place on Friday, May 18th at 1:30 PM. Dr. Ferre is a pioneering nationally recognized researcher in the field of Auditory Processing Disorder.
