In 2009, Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic (ESHC) set forth to create a comprehensive hearing instrument program using the latest research and information from industry experts to assist patients in enhancing their communication. As ESHC enters it’s 35th year of hearing care for the Puget Sound community, the Clinic’s team of experienced audiologists set forth to re-create and re-energize the hearing instrument program with CONNECT+. The new program was inspired by a desire to create a new hearing care model unrivaled in the industry. The team ensured each element was evidence based, comprehensive, outcome dependent and individualized with a patient focus.
The program uses the newest technology with verifiable and repeatable processes. ESHC’s audiologists strive to enhance communication with patients, referrals and colleagues through clear documentation and verbal communication. The 2013 program puts an emphasis on individualization and the communication our team members have with each patient throughout the process.
ESHC took the time to develop a hearing care program that goes beyond hearing instrument technology with a goal of individualization for each patient. Modern instruments provide high quality sound awareness in a device that is attractive, discrete, easy to wear and suitable for listening in noise. Although hearing instrument technology can help aid communication, by itself there is no promise of success or patient satisfaction. At ESHC the doctors of audiology looked beyond technology for factors that could influence outcomes. Through patient interviews, case studies, and outcome research, ESHC found that success is rooted in the empowerment of patients and family members.
In addition, all aspects of the new CONNECT+ Program are created to support adult learning with visual, verbal and tactile information provided to the patient. Each hearing instrument consultation is paired with visual video information and verbal communication with the patients audiologist. Following the appointment, the patient and family members are provided with information discussed during the consultation in a format of the patient’s choosing.
The 2013 program now offers an Eco-friendly version provided on a customized thumb drive, or a printed version of the information customized to the individual patient’s experience.
The team at ESHC strives to lead the industry to identify, quantify and specify objectives and solutions according to patient’s individual needs.
