This Saturday, 17 volunteers from Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic put on their working gloves and got to work at Food Lifeline in Shoreline. During the three hour period clinic members and their families packaged large crates of apples donated by local grocery stores and farmers, into smaller boxes to be distributed to food banks throughout Western Washington.

Our group successfully repacked 16,480 lbs (the weight of nearly two elephants!) of fresh apples which will go toward creating 12,875 meals for those in hunger throughout Washington State. While on site at Food Lifeline our group learned of the great need for food in Western Washington! Over the past month hunger has risen by 20%, and groups such as Food Lifeline are having a tough time keeping up with the need.
Thank you to all our staff and families who helped out at this great event. Food Lifeline is always looking for volunteers and donations. Visit their website to learn more!
