Christopher Norwood, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA, is currently serving as the Washington State Audiology Representative for the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Committee of Ambassadors. Dr. Norwood had the opportunity to travel to Washington DC with ASHA for a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill. He met with the office of US Representative Pramila Jayapal and Senator Maria Cantwell to discuss ASHA’s Public Policy Agenda. Issues discussed included improving access to audiological care for Medicare beneficiaries, expanding telehealth coverage for audiology and speech-language pathology services (set to expire soon under special COVID-19 initiatives) and investing in improving diversity in the audiology/speech-pathology workforce.
