Speech Pathologist Maryam Sadrzadeh, Audiologist Trisha Ostermeier, Front Office Staff Member Katie Colburn, along with myself and friends of ESHC walked in the 12th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk this Sunday. The sun was out, along with crowds of women and men who were out to make a difference. Over $120,000 was raised for the Bellevue Making Strides event with funds going directly back to education, research, and program development for the Puget Sound region.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, it’s estimated that About 178,480 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2007. About 40,460 women will die from the disease this year. Right now there are slightly over 2 million women living in the United States who have been treated for breast cancer (as taken from the National Breast Cancer Awareness website). This October help celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month by getting tested, and getting informed.
