The entire office has been anticipating the arrival of the new hearing instrument from Oticon, and I am extremely excited to announce that we are one of the first practices in the country to have the opportunity to offer the instruments to our patients (starting this week!).
The new instrument DUAL was released this weekend at the Special Human Link Conference in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Limb attended the three day event and came back with a full report on the ins and outs of the new devices…and I couldn’t wait to share with our blog visitors!
Dual hearing instruments are state of the art hearing solutions that create the most natural listening experience. Now you may be wondering how exactly Dual creates natural listening? Amazingly, Dual packs away an entire system of highly sophisticated technology in a tiny sleek shell design (it really quite amazes me!). Dual hearing devices have the ability to ‘talk‘ to each other, simulating the way the brain naturally processes sounds coming from different directions – resulting in 3D sound, and a directional cognition. This new way of amplifying sound helps people with hearing loss hear better and understand more spoken words even in the toughest of listening environments (restaurants, malls, social gatherings, you know what I am talking about, the list goes on and on.).
And if the technology wasn’t enough, Oticon went ahead and packed another punch with the ability to sync the Dual devices with a streamer that can wirelessly connect to landlines, cell phones, TV systems, MP3 Players, and many other personal entertainment systems with blue tooth capabilities. With the push of a button your instruments can become your gateway to personal entertainment.
And now for the REALLY fun part, Dual comes in 14 colors for neutrals to bolds, which really puts the icing on an already delicious cake. I can’t wait to hear the stories from our patients as they start to get these amazing new pieces of technology!
