In this morning’s staff meeting we held a special ceremony for Ritter who was honored for graduating the series of training programs that allows him to be Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic’s resident therapy dog. To honor his accomplishment he received a new vest with the Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic logo.
A big thank you to SLP Jennifer for all her time and hard work in training with Ritter. We are so excited to have this unique team as part of the ESHC family.
Given parent/patient consent, Ritter participates in a variety of session tasks, based on patient preferences, including regular dog-activities such as greeting patients and having them pet him, playing jointly with patients using dog toys, and allowing patients to brush his fur. Ritter also enjoys participating in play activities with children including taking turns popping bubbles, pretend play such as dress up or doctor, playing board games, and looking at/listening to stories.
