With Summer just around the corner, I thought I’d get you all in the mood with the following poem highlighting the SOUNDS of summer:
- Whispers of a warm, gentle breeze as leaves rustle in the trees.
- Calls of a chickadee, a song in the heart.
- Joyous shouts of Children at play, one last ring of the bell.
- One final recess, Fall so far away.
- A crack of the bat, a toss of the ball, a rout of the home team.
- Big time barbecues, hot and smokey.
- Pest free picnics in the rain, weird and wacky weenie roasts.
- Maybe a curious clambake or two.
- Camping out under the stars, crickets in the mist, sweet music of lonely lullabyes.
- Fireflies in a mason jar, mosquitoes in the moonlight.
- Ouch! That one got me!
- Public pools in the city, hideaway holes in the country.
- Snakey, slippery slides and tedious tire swings.
- You’re it! Marco! Over Here! Polo!
- Little ones, don’t forget your water wings.
- OOH! AAH! A fireworks display, Happy Birthday, USA.
- Carnival rides and petting zoos, strolling the midway hand in hand.
- Cotton Candy, hot dogs and more.
- A rollicking ride on the ferris wheel.
- The days grow shorter, the nights seem cooler.
- An autumn crisp is in the air.
- One last hurrah, a campfire crackles on the beach.
- Waves crash to a thunderous beat, the mingling scent of ripe salt air.
- With toasted marshmallows, gooey and warm.
- Whispers of a cool sea breeze, Summer magic, memories forever.
