This past Thursday, the speech team was honored to have pediatric psychologist Shelley Mackaman, PhD present at their weekly grand rounds meeting. Dr. Mackaman presented to the group on ways to better reach and counsel parents through their child’s time in therapy. The group learned training techniques to help parents become facilitators in their child’s therapy both in session and at home. The speech-language pathologists greatly appreciated Dr. Mackaman’s perspective on the psychological side to speech therapy.
Following the presentation the speech team completed a journal review of the clinical application of language samples and how they can be more effectively and efficiently used within therapy.
