As the weather (finally!) begins to warm up here in the Pacific Northwest, we begin thinking about the sunny days of summer ahead. One of my favorite memories of the summer as a kid was heading out to summer camp. Last year we did our summer camp homework and reported on camps that cater to children with hearing loss. This year we found another great resource we couldn’t wait to share!
The Washington State Department of Health puts together an annual list of summer camps for children with special needs. Camps are listed by camp name along with a categorization by special needs including physical disabilities, learning and developmental disabilities, behavior disorders and specific medical conditions including ADD, ADHD, Asperger’s, Autism, and Hearing Loss (just to name a few).
We are thrilled to see such a wonderful resource provided to families of the Pacific Northwest. In addition the resource includes helpful information for parents including tips on preparing your child for camp, along with things to consider when sending your child to camp for the first time.
