- Sports Fan Day: Now it’s time to celebrate some of Washington’s sports teams! (Or your child’s favorite!). This is a great way for your child to work on providing directions. For instance, describing the rules of his/her favorite sport involves many types of language (e.g., first, next, last, left, next to, behind, et cetera). This may help them make longer sentences and use joining words (and, because, but, until). Additionally, your child may work on following directions by “playing” a sports game with his/her speech-language pathologist. Children working on using their voice safely might work on some cheers for their favorite team. Go team!
